Frequently Asked Questions

Do you use stains or other color additives in your work?

Except where noted, I do not alter the color of the woods used in my work.  Nature graces wood species with a nearly endless array of colors, and for accents I choose species whose hues complement and showcase the texture, grain, and color of the primary wood.

What finishes do you use?

All pieces designed for table-top use (table sleds and one-piece wall tiles/trivets) are finished with several coats of walnut oil, which is both food- and heat-safe.  Periodically, they can be wiped with walnut oil or mineral oil to restore the original bright colors of the wood.

All other work except for painted pieces is finished with lacquer, which is both durable and water-resistant.

What does your work feel like?

The short answer?  Like glass.  I follow a multi-step sanding process, moving from rough grit to finer and finer grits and dampening the piece between grits to raise the grain.  The final result is work that says touch and touch again.

What is your refund policy?

My customer’s complete satisfaction is the goal of every sale.  If you are not happy with an item you have purchased from me, simply return it within 20 days of receipt, and I will gladly provide a refund.   The item must be  returned in its original condition, post-paid, and insured for the purchase value.

What if I wish to cancel an order?

If you wish to cancel an order, please call me as soon as possible.  If the item ordered is a stock piece, you may cancel provided that the item is not in shipment.  If you have ordered custom work and I have not yet begun that work, you may cancel.  If custom work has begun or the item has shipped, you may not cancel.  Stock items that have already shipped at the time you call can be returned as described above.  Custom orders cannot be returned

How is shipping handled?

Items are shipped via FedEx or UPS and insured for their full value.  The shipping/insurance charge is added to the cost of your order.  There is no packing or handling charge.
